Europe’s Meltdown: A Cautionary Tale Of The Infestation Of Muslims

 Muslims rioted in Sweden for a week, burning cars and attacking police. This is just the latest in an unremitting Islamic campaign, a continent-wide jihad initiative leaving death and destruction in its wake. It is a glimpse into the present and future of Europe, due to its disastrous and suicidal immigration policies, and a cautionary tale for America. And it isn’t just in Sweden. It’s in France as well, where there have been periodic Muslim riots, featuring the same car-burnings, screams of “Allahu akbar,” and attacks on police. All over the continent, we see the effects of Muslim immigration in Europe. When a Muslim tried to assassinate free-speech activist Lars Hedegaard in Denmark, the New York Times smeared Hedegaard and praised Muslims.

Last year, Belgium was shaken by a Ramadan crime wave, with threats of jihad grenade attacks on public buildings. A devout Muslim called for the murder of members of a pro-freedom political party in Germany.

Other Muslim thugs “patrolled” the streets of London, harassing those they believed do not conform to Islamic law. There are even Sharia zones enforced in the U.K. Gay man are targeted by Muslims who threaten them to “get out of here, you bloody fag.” In Italy recently, a jihadist was arrested in Rome and there were police raids in Milan, Palermo, Cagliari, Cuneo, and Salerno. But Muslims nonetheless are violently rioting and attacking non-Muslims in that country. In Spain, a jihadi plotted to poison the tourist water supply. A jihadi trio was arrested “in possession of explosives and poison.”

And because of this mass Muslim immigration, the Islamic antisemitism has increasingly rendered Europe hostile to Jews. Norway's Jewish population is almost nonexistent, French Jews are fleeing in droves, and a Jewish school in Belgium has been forced to shut down. In Sweden, Muslims shot rockets and hurled pipe bombs at Jews and attacked Jews at a peaceful pro-Israel rally. In Germany, Muslims rioted, chanting “Jews out, Germans out, allahu akbar, f**k off Jews, kick the Jews out, burn the Jew.” A Hezbollah courier was found guilty of playing a role in a Cyprus jihad terror plot. Hezbollah was also behind the bombing of a bus full of Jewish tourists in Bulgaria. In Italy, a Muslim was jailed for a Milan synagogue bomb plot. There are now sweeping "no-go areas" for Jews in Europe.

Think it can’t happen here? At a Los Angeles rally, Muslims chanted “Long live Hitler” and “Put Jews in ovens.”

The mainstream media, true to form, seldom identifies the perpetrators. Instead, in a characteristic move they blamed the Swedish riots on the right and attribute it all to poverty, saying: “Some seven years of centre-right rule, however, have chipped away at benefits.”

Swedish journalist Ingrid Carlqvist said:

The last 20 years or so, we have seen so many immigrants coming to Sweden that really don’t like Sweden. They do not want to integrate, they do not want to live in [Swedish] society: Working, paying taxes and so on. The people come here now because they know that Sweden will give them money for nothing. They don’t have to work, they don’t have to pay taxes – they can just stay here and get a lot of money. That is really a problem.

Nonetheless, some in the media says that the overburdened taxpayer should pay more jizya (the tax demanded of non-Muslims under Islamic law) to these “masked youths [who] vandalise schools, libraries and police stations, setting cars alight and hurling stones at police and firefighters.”

Media elites and lefitsts tools scrub and sanitize the grim truth while Europe burns. The media is crippled by its own self-censorship -- beheadings in the streets of London, bombings in Boston, thousands of burning cars, Sweden under siege, but still the media cannot say the M-word. For those who don’t speak media, “Asian,” “immigrant,” “youth,” “immigrant youth,” “North African,” and “Moroccan” all mean the same thing. The M-word is prohibited – to utter it in a negative manner would be to commit blasphemy under the Sharia. “Do not offend Islam.”

Social exclusion is to blame. Housing is to blame. Disrespect for the police (non-Sharia authority) is to blame. Everything and anything is to blame except what's actually to blame. And Sweden is getting swallowed whole.

AFP writes that the rioting was “set off earlier this month by the police shooting of a 69-year-old man” and
 neglects to mention that the man charged at police with a machete (think London beheading).

And Swedish politicians (as well as the media) are trying to make light of it. “The acute thing is to ensure that these neighborhoods get back to normal everyday life,” said Erik Ullenhag, Sweden’s integration minister. It will never be normal again, Mr. Ullenhag. Snap out of it. It will never be normal again in Sweden or anywhere in Europe.

Already Sweden is doing the bidding of Islamic supremacists. According to Christianity Today, “Sweden is denying religious refugee status to Iranian Christians, threatening to extradite them. Applicants complain that secular immigration judges don’t understand the risks they face back home in Iran as converts.” And a Stockholm municipality has allowed the Islamic call to prayer to go out across the city over loudspeakers.

And a Somali journalist in Sweden, Amun Abdullari, has decided to return to Somalia. She wrote about how young Muslims in Sweden become jihadists – and was promptly attacked by the Swedish left. She says that while “Somalia is a dangerous place, Sweden is more dangerous than Mogadishu. Here you cannot tell the truth. The truth is kept secret, the people are silenced.”

The violence, the rioting, the rapes, the attacks on police, and firefighters are not happening in a vacuum.

There is a societal sanction, an appeasement, that clearly emboldens and gives rise to an escalation.

With all of these concessions to the Sharia and Islamic supremacism, is it any wonder that the invading army is more brazen and naked in achieving its goal?

And yet the media and governing elites focus not on the jihad force but on the so-called “right-wing extremists” who are trying to halt the Islamization of Europe.

Ayn Rand wrote this of America:

Men of all races came here, some from obscure, culturally undistinguished countries, and accomplished feats of productive ability which would have remained stillborn in their control-ridden native lands. Men of racial groups that had been slaughtering one another for centuries, learned to live together in harmony and peaceful cooperation. America had been called ‘the melting pot,’ with good reason. But few people realized that America did not melt men into the gray conformity of a collective: she united them by means of protecting their right to individuality.

Ideally, immigration was a good thing: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” People would immigrate to America (and Europe) for a better life -- to be part of a shared value system. But this is no longer the case. Millions of Muslims come to Western countries with a ready-made model of society and government (Sharia) which they believe to be superior. They do not want to integrate; their ideology prohibits it. They are told explicitly not to take Jews or Christians as friends (cf. Koran 5:51).

Bat Ye’or, the world’s leading historian and scholar on Islam in the West, in her new book, Europe, Globalization, and the Coming Universal Caliphate, explains how the Islamization of Europe has been no accident. Rather, it is the fruit of a very deliberate strategic plan to align with the Muslim world in order to create a superpower to rival and eclipse the United States of America. Instead, Europe itself is being eclipsed.

An unknown writer summed it up:

A culture is that set of implicitly agreed upon and harmonious behavioral rules and guidelines evolved through experience, example and imitation that foster mutual understanding, cooperation and effectiveness throughout a society. The notion of multiculturalism is a well-intended but misguided overextension of tolerance that is contrary to that purpose. To have multiple cultures is to not have a culture.

Europe’s meltdown: it’s a cautionary tale for the United States. But with the Obama gang in power, no one is paying heed.

The Euro's Collapse Is Not Just About the Euro

How do you say Schadenfreude in French?  Or Spanish?  Or Greek?  Because, three years into the failed economic policies of a failed president, Schadenfreude -- knowing that, however bad our situation may be, the state of affairs in the Eurozone is much worse -- is all that is left to us.

And it is worse, make no mistake about that.  And, it increasingly appears, irreversible.  Which is why those of us who saw this day coming must resist the urge to gloat now that the poulets européens have come home to roost.  Let us instead, let out a sigh of relief as we observe the Euro-debacle from a safe distance and draw what lessons we can, lest their fate become ours.  For the euro's increasingly probable collapse is about more, much more, than the euro.

George Mason University economics professor Tyler Cowen almost gets it when he writes, in the May 26 New York Times:

We thus face the danger that the euro, the world's No. 2 reserve currency, could implode.  Such an event wouldn't be just another depreciation or collapse of a currency peg; instead, it would mean that one of the world's major economic units doesn't work as currently constituted.

Note the qualifiers, "could," and "would."  In fact, the euro is imploding and said implosion does mean that "one of the world's major economic units doesn't work as currently constituted."  And it's a pretty sure bet that whatever new constitution the Euro-elites conjure up for their "newly constituted unit" won't work, either -- certainly not if it's "newly constituted" by the same people who constituted the current one.

The good professor writes:  "The final lesson of this debacle is that smart nations with noble motives can make very big mistakes."  But at the same time Cowen states the obvious, he also misses the obvious by failing to name the Euro-debacle's true culprits.  For regardless of what "smart nations with noble motives" may or may not do, the guilty parties here are not "smart nations," but arrogant, soi disant "experts," who consider themselves accountable to no one due to their self-perceived brilliance, but who in fact are not nearly as smart as they think (and would like us to think) they are.  Conversely, had, say, "the first 2,000 names in the Berlin telephone directory," been allowed to vote on whether they wanted to surrender their national currencies, and the control thereof, into euros that would be out of their control, a large majority of them almost certainly would have voted no and the whole Euro-mess that was shoved down their throats and must now be vomited up, could have been avoided.

Cowen continually dances around issue, coming close, but never making the real point and I suspect that the reason for the fancy footwork is because Cowen is a liberal, or at least one who is rooting for the euro to succeed.  So allow me to state clearly what Cowen would not.

The plain and simple fact is that the euro's failure is about more, much more, than the euro.  For it is not just the euro that is failing, but the entire liberal, elitist worldview that underlies it.  That worldview, in a nutshell, is the notion that human nature is as malleable as a lump of clay and that any utopian society one can imagine can be created in the real world simply by writing it down on a piece of paper and voting for it.

And so here we are, leaving the world, including we Americans, divided, essentially, into two groups:  those who understand that liberalism's day of reckoning has come, that the debate is over, that collapse is inevitable and that the only course now is to manage, as best we can, the process of changing direction; and those who do not.

Abandoning a currency, as we are learning, is no easy task.  But it's a far easier task than abandoning a worldview upon which literally millions if not hundreds of millions of people have built and lived their lives, and which has held a considerable hold on political thinking -- and governance -- for almost a century.

Europe may or may not succeed in arresting its decline.  But we Americans, paradoxically, are made of both sterner and more flexible stuff and so one can confidently predict that it is only a matter of time before the old guard is cast out, to be replaced by a new generation of leaders with a vision that looks forward, not back.

One senses that that day is not far off.  In the meantime, protect your assets, do what you can to avoid the falling debris as the old order collapses, and prepare for a hard fight in the years ahead.

Time to Cut IMF's Credit, End Europe's Bailouts

 Like a bad soap opera, the European debt crisis never wants to end, and it’s likely to enter a worse phase when Greece holds its next election on June 17. With less than two weeks to go, the outcome seems preordained: the major Greek parties want to end the bailouts and the conditions that come with them.

That’s why the next few weeks are so crucial: Instead of waiting on the inevitable, the European Union, the International Monetary Fund, and the Obama Administration – which provided a $100 billion line of credit to the IMF, which is being used for the bailouts – should rethink their “Bailout Universe” strategy. That strategy has failed, and a new one is needed.

The failure is easy to see: while Greece, Ireland, and Portugal have secured over $500 billion in bailout money over the last two years, their debt burden continues to grow. Meanwhile, Spain and Italy face a similar crisis because of too much spending and borrowing. Nearly one-third of the bailout money comes from the IMF, and the largest contributor to the IMF is the U.S. The Obama Administration has quietly endorsed these bailouts because they believe that while the bailouts are costly, by enforcing “austerity” on Europe, they will also solve the problem.

Now is the time to question that assumption. For starters, Europe is hardly in an “age of austerity.” Last year, 23 of the 27 EU nations increased spending. One of the few that did make cuts, Greece, cut only 6 percent of its budget – hardly draconian. Meanwhile, Greece continues to run a budget deficit equal to 10 percent of its economy. The national debt in France, Spain and Italy continues to increase. This is “austerity”?

And what of “austerity’s” future? In the recent Greek election, 68 percent of the vote went to anti-bailout parties. In France, Socialist Francois Hollande was elected President promising to lower the retirement age from 62 to 60. German Chancellor Angela Merkel recently said she was open to giving Greece an injection of “stimulus.” At the recent G-8 summit, President Obama urged European leaders to enact a new round of “stimulus” for the whole continent.

Clearly, Europe is going in the wrong direction, and the Administration isn’t helping. That’s why it’s so important for global leaders to start working on a Plan B, a simple plan that would have three basic concepts: stop the bailouts, end the spending binge, and balance the budget once and for all.

President Obama can do his part by reducing America’s line of credit to the IMF to pre-2009 levels, protecting almost $100 billion. I have introduced legislation, HR 2313, which would do exactly that. My bill, which has 94 cosponsors, would send a powerful message to Europe: Uncle Sam’s blank check is over.

This isn’t meant to punish Europe. Rather, it’s meant to help Europe make the tough choices that are necessary for a true, sustainable recovery. That recovery can’t happen until job creators – in Europe and the U.S. – gain confidence that the world’s governments have the discipline to get spending and borrowing under control and unleash the power of free enterprise.

Those who worry that revoking the $100 billion line of credit would scare the markets should remember two things. First, it’s actually the uncertainty caused by the endless bailouts – and the fear they’ll never end because of the lack of fiscal discipline – which has caused the swings in the market and the underperformance of the world economy since the Great Recession officially ended in 2009. The crushing burden of debt – and the fear that government debt is out of control – is the main reason why this recovery has been so lackluster, in contrast to the Reagan Recovery which was led by the private sector, not government “stimulus,” and was much stronger.

Furthermore, many experts believe that $100 billion won’t make any difference anyway. It’s too small to make a real impact on the EU’s situation, but it’s definitely big enough to leave a hole in the wallets of U.S. taxpayers at a time when we’re about to face our own fiscal crisis. Consider: a bailout of Italy equal to Portugal’s bailout – about half of GDP – would need over $1 trillion. There isn’t enough money in the world for that kind of commitment. That’s why dealing with this problem now is essential. And instead of waiting by the sidelines and quietly funneling money to the EU through the IMF – as the Administration has done – the US should be working constructively with our allies to find a true, long-lasting solution.

Now is the time for action and a renewed commitment to freedom and smaller government. We cannot take the “too big to fail” philosophy to a global level. The only thing “too big to fail” is America itself.
