Border Patrol Union: Holder Must Resign

The NBPC is a professional labor union representing more than 17,000 Border Patrol Agents and support staff. Their parent organization is the American Federation of Government Employees. We know them better as AFL-CIO. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was a victim of Fast & Furious. Two semi-automatic weapons were found at the crime scene. He was shot on December 14, 2010 and passed away the next day.

Jerry Seper at The Washington Times reported this morning Council President George E. McCubbin III stated Holder’s conduct is “a slap in the face to all Border Patrol agents who serve this country.”
“The heroism that Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry demonstrated on that cold night in the desert of Arizona was in keeping with the finest traditions of the United States Border Patrol and will never be forgotten by those who patrol this nation’s borders...We cannot allow our agents to be sacrificed for no gain and not hold accountable those who approved the ill-conceived Operation Fast and Furious.”
Mr. McCubbin wants the Department of Justice to stop passing the blame. He went on to say that border patrol agents “are indoctrinated from day one of their training that integrity is their most important trait and that without it, they have little use to the agency.” He also pointed out that agents who lie or a lack of candor are disciplined.

“The standard that applies to these agents should at a minimum be applied to those who lead them,” Mr. McCubbin said. “If Eric Holder were a Border Patrol agent and not the attorney general, he would have long ago been found unsuitable for government employment and terminated.”
McCubbin went on to say it would be impossible for an operation like Fast & Furious to happen without the DOJ or Obama administration knowing or approving it.
“It is time for Attorney General Holder to show the least shred of responsibility and leadership and resign his post,” Mr. McCubbin said. “Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry deserves nothing less.”
Last week Mr. Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee he has no intention of resigning and reminded them President Obama still has complete confidence in him.
