Rush: The MSM is conflicted when their beloved Obama doesn’t respond to oil spill for 12 days

Rush pointed out something interesting in his monologue about how the MSM responds to Obama vs Bush regarding disasters. He read the following from the Washington Examiner on the air:
Why didn’t federal officials implement an oil spill clean up plan they’ve had on the books since 1994 as soon as possible after crude began pumping into the Gulf of Mexico following the explosion and sinking of BP’s Deepwater Horizon drilling platform 53 miles south of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico?
The Mobile Register reports that Ron Gouget, who formerly managed the oil spill cleanup department of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, as well as a similar unit for the state of Louisiana, is criticizing the Obama White House’s failure to act according to existing government plans in the event of a spill in the area now being deluged with thousands of barrels of crude oil every day.
Gouget said when he was at NOAA, the agency created a plan that required burning off an oil spill in the region in its earliest stage, if the prevailing winds would not push the smoke and soot from the operation inland. The plan is still in effect, but was not activated last week by NOAA.
“They had pre-approval. The whole reason the plan was created was so we could pull the trigger right away instead of waiting ten days to get permission,” Gouget told the Register.
Just this item alone casts new light on the federal response to the oil spill. Up until this point I hadn’t been that critical of Obama’s reaction to it, but knowing that they had a pre-approved plan to deal with such a disaster that they failed to enact is pretty messed up. After listening to the details that Rush lays out how events unfolded, I must say I am becoming more convinced that this is much bigger than the MSM is letting it become, and that’s being fair.
I hate to over think this, but I do wonder why Obama, a lefty eco-sensitive president, didn’t have a response team raring to go as soon as they found out about it. I mean, 12 days for the EPA to act? A NOAA pre-made plan ready to go out of the box that just sat there for 10 days? I’m beginning to think what Rush said last week about Obama caring more about his agenda than about being President is making more sense day by day, as it pertains to this crisis. And I can’t get that quote from Rahm Emmanuel out of my head: “Never let a good crisis go to waste.”
Hmmmmm.
Here’s Rush’s whole segment on this. Enjoy!
