New Tone: St. Louis Alderman Uses MLK Day To Attack Tea Party

Another progressive who apparently missed the media’s lecturing about the New Tone:

St. Louis board of aldermen president Lewis Reed summed up the event when he said “the growth of the tea party is driven by hate. They are trying to turn our country around. However, we won’t go back. We have to get out every day and fight.”
Driven by hate?

FLASHBACK: Kenneth Gladney was beaten by St. Louis union activists, and Kelly Owens was punched in the face, in August of 2009. Should we be concerned when Reed says “fight?”

Perhaps Mr. Reed should have attended 8/28 where King’s family attended and listened to their message of love – and perhaps learned to stop trying to hijack Dr. King’s message of peace for political purposes.

Am I a hysterical member of the left who takes political speech seriously? Even though there exist serious questions about White House remarks and the Gladney incident, I will extend more credit to Mr. Lewis than he’s willing to extend to conservatives in saying that his speech is regular, run-of-the-mill political speech. I do, however, want this to be an illustration of the hypocrisy in which the left engages.

Though it’s been over a year since the incident, Gladney still has not received his trial date (after he was mocked in public). The latest word is that the St. Louis prosecutor’s office isn’t interested in setting one. The case has been kicked around the office like a hot potato, according to the Gladney family.

Gladney is not receiving justice because he was racially profiled as a black conservative because he was selling Gadsen flags. The first time I saw Gladney he was selling pro-Obama pins at a separate event. I, nor anyone else, has ever asked what, exactly, Gladney’s politics actually are because they’re irrelevant. He may be a liberal for all we know but an injustice was done to him and it needs to be corrected. Of course, I’m not sure how liberal one would be after they were profiled and beaten because of political prejudice.

It’s a shame that there exists this manufactured division where none should exist.

(The Communist People’s World, of all things, reported on this story as it appears they were in attendance of the political MLK event.)
