On ABC’s Good Morning America on July 19, Obama cheerleader George Stephanopoulos remarked that “…if you set aside the Fort Hood bombing in Texas and the failed Christmas bomber, there has not been a major attack that’s been anything close to successful on American soil.”
First, Stephanopoulos had his facts wrong. The Fort Hood incident was a Muslim shooting massacre, not a bombing. He also neglected to mention the Times Square bomber, who came close to being successful. (On July 21 the New York Post reported, “A secret FBI test of a correctly made version of the Times Square bomb revealed that it ‘would have killed thousands of people’ if it had been made to explode as terrorists had intended, law-enforcement sources told The Post. The source also said, “It definitely would have been bigger than Oklahoma City ”—the 1995 bombing of the federal building that killed 168 people. “There would have been a lot of casualties.”)
Stephanopoulos’s remark is of course ludicrous. It is akin to saying:
“If you set aside the 15 million Americans who are looking for full-time employment, the economy is doing quite well.”
“If you set aside the $3 trillion Obama added to the national debt in his first 18 months in office, the amount our children and grandchildren will owe is not so bad.”
“If you set aside the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy, and the drunk driving of Edward Kennedy, and the incompetent flying of John F. Kennedy, Jr.—then the Kennedy family doesn’t look so tragedy-stricken.”
“If you set aside 17 and a half of the first 18 months of the Obama administration, it has been successful.”
“If you set aside his rape of a 13-year-old girl, Roman Polanski is a man of moral virtue.”
“If you set aside the Deepwater Horizon, BP’s record of oil spills is unblemished.”
“If you set aside his voting with the Democrats, Lindsey Graham would make a great Republican Senator.”
“If you set aside Obama’s connections to ACORN, SEIU, Goldman Sachs, Broadway Bank, Center for American Progress, Planned Parenthood, George Soros, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Saul Alinsky, Frank Marshall Davis, Rashid Khalidi, Mona Khalidi, Van Jones, Valerie Jarrett, David Axelrod, Mike Klonsky, Susan Klonsky, Edward Said, Ali Abunimah, al-Waleed bin Talal, Rod Blagojevich, Tony Rezko, Alexi Giannoulias, Zbigniew Brzezinksi, Eric Holder, Richard Andrew Cloward, Frances Fox Piven, Richard M. Daley, Carl Davidson, Rahm Emanuel, Ezekiel Emanuel, Eni Faleomavaega, Timothy Geithner, Julius Genachowski, Andy Stern, Larry Sinclair, Donald Young, Sarah Herlihy, Marilyn Katz, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, John Podesta, Raila Odinga, Madeline Talbott, Robert Vanecko, Donald Warden (aka Khalid al-Mansour), and Michelle LaVaughan Robinson Obama… then he’d love the United States of America and be a member of the Tea Party.
You get the idea…
