How easy would it be for Sarah Palin to raise enough money to run and beat Obama? A GOP expert today claims all Palin would have to do is, "Snap her fingers," with a warning that Democrats should be careful what they wish for. Thus, on Fox News today, the fight was on when Ben Chao, a Democrat who boasted that his "firm beats Republicans for a living," tried first to make light of sweeping Democrat losses in the 2010 election and finally quipped, "I dream about Sarah Palin," as an opponent to President Obama in 2012.
In a quick warning to all Democrats who bluff that Palin would be an easy win for Obama but Romney would be a really tough match, Dee Dee Benkie, expert GOP strategist, narrowed her eyes and cautioned, "Be careful what you wish for. It's funny how the Democrats keep beating up on Sarah Palin. I just think that's curious."
Raising the stakes in the verbal political war of my-candidate-can-beat-your-candidate, Benkie challenged, "I think Sarah Palin could very well end up being the nominee. And I do think she will run."
Shocked and doubtful questions followed Benkie's prediction that Palin was set to run, "You do? Why do you think so? She has no organization right now! She has done no fund raising! She's way behind in a bunch of states!."
"Snap her fingers, she will raise a ton of money," responded Benkie with smug confidence, adding, "if she gets in - and I think she's in."
When Benkie was asked if Sarah Palin was "ready" to be president, Benkie didn't hesitate, "Yes, of course.
And I think she would beat Obama."
When Benkie fielded the inevitable subject of how polarizing Sarah Palin is ,of polls showing independents would never vote for Palin, she quickly dismissed it as no-problem with, "Who cares about those people?
That's fine. Those people are not going to vote for her. The key is, it is a challenge for the independents, but she will motivate the base, will over-produce with the base, so you cannot count out Sarah Palin."
What Benkie failed to mention was that if Sarah Palin faced off with President Obama, this might very well be a case of "May the best polarizing candidate win". Bottom line, thinks Benkie, "It's crazy to count her out - she would beat Obama."
GonzoII: "C’mon, Sarah, my checkbook is open ...
Anitius Severinus Boethius Sarah Palin has 3,110,659 followers on Facebook. That is 1% of the U.S. population. She posts a “I need $2,000,000 to buy blanket radio ad in Iowa, please send $1 to my PAC” and she will be running a $10,000,000 money bomb in 24 hours.
Politicians still don’t get how powerful social network sites are."
babyfreep "‘Yeppers!’ oops - I meant “You betcha!” [wink]
And - she’ll have my money, too. I do so wish she and DeMint would team up."
M. Thatcher Cannot WAIT to send her cash. Early and often.
bigbobThe key word here is “bluff”. That’s all this talk about “Palin can’t win” is - a big bluff they hope will discourage her from running. If she were a conventional politician who gave a damn about polls and punditry, it might.
But she’s not. Game on!
Crim (Palin / West '12)“Politicians still don’t get how powerful social network sites are.”
Sure they do...that’s why they seek to control them by becoming the key masters for groupings on FB...
capydick She’s awesome - I met her the night before she was on Hannity last - we’re gonna be hearing more from her in the future.
arrogantsob I have never contributed to a politician. My checkbook would be opened for Sarah. I suspect there are millions of others like me.
HMS Surprise (Chris Christie can go to hell.) I have my checkbook in one hand and pen in the other. It is as Dee Dee says, when Sarah says she needs money it will be like Bedford Falls on Christmas Eve. The basket will be filled.
M-cubed When the Country is faced with an Obama vs. Palin decision...
SARAH WINS HANDS DOWN!..if not...This country didn't stand a chance anyway.....Some may have to hold their nose to vote for her....because 70-80% of the truly independent voters will vote in their OWN BEST INTEREST....and they will!...
2ndDivisionVetThat doesn’t bother me. It’s getting it out there that’s important! As I’ve said before, I will aim at raising $2 million dollars for Gov. Palin when she declares. People don’t realize how huge her following is!
WE not only have to beat the democRATS but also the old senile Republican
elitists. You Betcha! TribalPrincess2U
KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle Not only cash, I will make phone calls, knock on doors, visit malls, go to rallies, convince golf buddies, pass out Kools and Colt 45, be a poll watcher, whatever it takes to see her become President 45.
^THIS^ x 1,000,000. Which is something the Roves, the Krauthammers, the Frums and the MittBots all fail to understand, even remotely: there is only ONE potential candidate for 2012 capable of successfully marshalling THAT level of support, from Day One...
... AND: that said support is absolutely, positively not automatically "transferable" upon RNC demand to the Romney or Pawlenty of their choice. Not even if they (and all their paid online sycophants and apologists) all hop up and down like amphetamined spider monkeys and shriek "OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA BOOGA BOOGA BOOGA -- !!!" at us, from now until Election Day.

Finally. Somebody gets it
