American-born al-Qaida member arrested in Pakistan

SLAMABAD, March 8 (AP) - (Kyodo)—An America-born al-Qaida member, Adam Gadahn, wanted in the United States, has been captured in Karachi in southern Pakistan, security officials said Sunday. Gadahn was arrested during a search operation in the vicinity of the Sohrab Goth area in the major Pakistani port city, the officials said.
Gadahn has appeared in more than half a dozen al-Qaida videos, taunting and threatening the West and calling for its destruction, according to the Associated Press.
A U.S. court charged Gadahn with treason in 2006, making him the first American to face such a charge in more than 50 years, according to the AP.
