REPUBLICAN ELITES: YOU BETTER “BUCK UP”

Today, I was reading an article on the American Spectator. The article was written by Jeffrey Lord and was titled “O‘Reilly, Hannity, Greta Get CNN President Fired“.  Mr. Lord basically took the most recent media ratings for the so-called “prime time” slots from 8-11p.m and showed the incredible dominance by Fox News personalities over their apparent hapless competitors over at CNN. It was this incredible disproportionate, lopsided crushing by the Fox folks and, CNN’s inability to develop a programming schedule to compete that got their president, Jon Klein fired. ( see Mr. Lord’s post at http://spectator.org/blog )  Fox News is seen by the public as a “fair and balanced” network but it is also generally understood that the network has a middle to right perspective of the world. The fact that Fox shows such dominance, to me, further establishes the fact that America is a “center/ right” country.  The study also proves that Americans have not bought into the mainstream media’s or even the President’s  description of Fox as an extreme right network that really is not a “news” outlet.  The fact that the remainder of the elite media fail or refuse to recognize this and adopt a more “center / right” programming schedule, like Fox News,  befuddles me.  However, this showing by Fox News did get me thinking.

Reading Mr. Lord’s blog article I wondered why the Republican elites, both inside Congress and non legislators, continue to act like the mainstream liberal media. I wondered why they fail or refuse to recognize the political tone in America as being “center / right”. For some reason the elite Republicans continue to struggle with fully embracing pure, unadulterated, straight-up, unfiltered, time tested conservatism as their sole platform for governance. I’m not talking about the Charlie Crist or Arlen Specter type conservatism; not even the George W. Bush conservatism. Rather, I am pointing to the unabashedly in your face, plain spoken, straight forward conservatism shown by, my favorite conservative out there today, Sarah Palin. Yes there are others on the scene that I love just as much including Michelle Bachman, Marco Rubio and others. However, Sarah has something no other conservative in America has today, the persona that strikes absolute fear in the hearts and minds of the American left. This irrational hate and fear by Progressives and liberals, to me, settles all concerns about who should head the Republican ticket for 2012. As Rush Limbaugh often says, ” the left will always tell you who your (Republican and conservatives) candidate should be.” The fact that not a single day passes without the liberal media attacking or scrutinizing Sarah or her family in some way, their absolute paranoia with her tells you without question just how much they fear her. I’ll say more about this in a moment, but for now, back to the elite Republicans.

The problem that I see with the club house elite conservatives is that they still don’t get it. They fail to see all of the clear and convincing evidence that America wants to be governed by conservative principles. They  do not see Fox New’s performance and level of public support as a bell weather of the public’s mood in America. The elites need to draw clear parallels between Fox News and the public mood and Sarah Palin or conservatism and the public mood.

There are Fox viewers who do not agree with everything that they see on Fox but they continue to view Fox because they know that Fox does the best job of fair and balanced programming and for this reason they are committed Fox viewers.  I think the same can be said for Sarah Palin. While there are segments of the public that may not agree with Sarah on some issues,  probably social issues, they see her as a moral, values driven person and thus someone that they can trust.   They know that because of her strong values she will not impose her social beliefs on those who do not agree with her. It is her morals and values that give comfort to moderates that allows me to draw the conclusion that Sarah would win their support and would consider her for a national leadership position. And there is more evidence.

After reading Mr. Lord’s article I was reminded about the many other examples that shows America’s preference for conservatism.  For example, national book sales; conservatives pound liberal authors unmercifully in the total sales of their books. A good example is Sarah Palin who sold over 300,000 books on her first day!  Glenn Beck’s books have consistently topped 1,000,000 in sales and Bill O’Reilly, Mark Levin, Laura Ingra ham and others have also topped the charts with hundreds of thousands in sales. Compare their book sale performances to the anemic sales of liberals like Nancy Pelosi and Ed Shultz. Pelosi’s book “KNOW YOUR POWER” sold 2700 copies in her first week of sales while  Ed Shultz had an equally sad performance with roughly 4,000 in sales over four (4) months.  There can be only one explanation for this phenomenon, that America is a center right country and, I believe, relate more to strong conservative principles as opposed to liberal / progressive ideas. Given the current havoc now being reaped on the country by the current Congress and Administration, people can now make a clear distinction between the impact of unbridled liberalism vs. unbridled conservatism.  Americans have shown their desire to have America restored to its founding  traditions of small government and fiscal integrity; America has chosen conservatism.

If the Republican elites need more there is other evidence seen in the recent elections around the country. Strong conservatives are dominating these elections. From Nevada, to Delaware to South Carolina and Florida, people are clearly saying that conservatism is the answer to the country’s ills. Notwithstanding these clear messages from the American public,  you still have some of the country club elite Republicans who are timid about taking strong conservative positions.

How much evidence is enough for the elites to embrace strong conservative principles. Having  conservative values does not mean that you cannot reach across the aisle to address issues. It simply means that you allow your conservative principles to guide and direct you in finding solutions. Our country is being dismantled, systematically by a radical, extreme liberal / progressive Congress and President and the November 2012 elections are key to stopping this assault and to begin the healing and restoration of America’s greatness.

Americans have lost our patience and will no longer tolerate leaders who do not represent America’s interests. We, conservatives, will have a great outcome on November 4th.  America will be sending a new class of conservative legislators to join with current “conservatives” in Washington. It is the elite conservatives now in Washington, that we issue this warning. Band with the new conservative  legislators for they have received our mandate for change. Act with boldness, high values and conservative principles. Know that America has your back and will support you on tough issues. If these words of admonishment are not sufficient, allow me to be more specific.  Listen to the public, keep true to your conservative values, do what is right for America and BUCK – UP.
